FAQs

How the house works, plainly.

The Menus

What is a Menu?

A Menu is a limited, composed collection, served all at once. Every piece is one of one.

How often is a new Menu served?

Every few weeks. Join our list, and you will see the next one before anyone else.

How do I find out when a Menu opens?

Join the table at the bottom of any page. Our list hears first, with previews before each Menu opens.

A piece I wanted says Served. Can I still get it?

Served means sold, and we do not restock. But tell us through Off Menu and we will look for one like it.

Ordering and payment

What payment methods do you accept?

All the major methods shown at checkout, including credit and debit cards.

Is checkout secure?

Yes. Payment is handled through Shopify's secure, encrypted checkout. Your card details never pass through our hands.

Can I reserve a piece before buying?

Pieces are not held. As each one is unique, it is yours only once the order is placed.

Authentication

How are pieces authenticated?

Every piece is sourced through hands we trust, mainly licensed dealers in Japan, then inspected in house before it is offered. If a piece does not pass, it does not make the Menu. The full process is on our Authentication page.

Does proof come with the bag?

When a piece still has its original cards or dust bag, they come with it. When it does not, we say so honestly on the piece's page. We never invent provenance.

What if a piece is not authentic?

In the exceptional event that a piece were ever found to be inauthentic, we take it back and refund it in full, with return shipping at our expense.

Are you affiliated with the maisons?

No. Dinner is Served is an independent selection house, not affiliated with any brand. Their trademarks remain their own. More on our Authentication page.

Condition and sizing

Are the bags new?

No. Every piece is vintage or pre-owned, chosen for its condition and its point of view, and described honestly, wear and all.

How do I know what I am getting?

Each piece lists its measurements and a condition grade, with honest notes on the exterior and the interior.

What do the condition grades mean?

Excellent: little to no sign of wear. Very good: light, normal signs of a previous life. Good: visible wear, always shown and described.

How much is shipping, and how long does it take?

When and how am I refunded?

Off Menu

What is Off Menu?

Private sourcing. Tell us what you are after and we will go find it, through hands we trust. Start on our Off Menu page.

What can you source?

Anything you dream of: a specific piece, maison, era or colour. The rarer the better.

How long does it take?

As long as it takes to find the right one. Some pieces surface in days, rarer ones take weeks. We keep you posted, and nothing is owed while we look.

When do I pay?

Only once we have found the piece and you have said yes. No charge, and no obligation, while we search.

Press and Loans

Can press or brands borrow your pieces?

Yes. Press, stylists, brands and productions can borrow or hire pieces for editorials, campaigns, lookbooks and film. See our Press & Loans page.
